Study visit from Velenje to district heating plant in Karlovac

Networking and peer-to-peer (P2P) collaboration play a crucial role in the exchange of experiences among organizations involved in projects aimed at improving infrastructure and energy efficiency. An example of collaboration between the district heating company from Velenje, Slovenia and the district heating company from Karlovac highlights the importance of international cooperation and knowledge sharing in the field of energy efficiency and infrastructure projects.

During a recent visit by representatives from the Velenje District Heating Company to the District Heating Plant in Karlovac, experiences and knowledge regarding the implementation of projects funded through the LIFE program and the ITU mechanism were exchanged. The ITU project, “Revitalization of the District Heating Network in the City of Karlovac,” was highlighted as a best practice example. The ITU mechanism enabled investment in the district heating network with a focus on increasing the energy efficiency of the central heating system in Karlovac and ensuring a reliable and secure delivery of thermal energy. This is an outstanding example of how infrastructure projects can be planned and implemented to achieve sustainable and energy-efficient solutions for cities.

During the visit, LIFE projects D2Heat and 3Diverse, in which colleagues from the heating sector are currently involved, were also introduced. The exchange of experiences and knowledge about these projects allowed participants to better understand the challenges and successes in the field of energy and explore opportunities for future collaboration.

In addition to sharing experiences, plans were made for future mutual visits and collaboration, which will facilitate continuous exchange of information and support among organizations with similar goals.
