The kick-off meeting of the D2Heat project took place on November 15 and 16, 2022, at the premises of the Croatian Chamber of Economy. The meeting was attended by representatives of the project consortium – REGEA, HGK, Avelant, HEP Toplinarstvo, Gradska toplana Karlovac, Energo Rijeka, and Brod Plin, as well as a representative from CINEA.
The meeting covered a range of topics, from the current situation in the energy market, which is highly unfavorable for companies in the district heating sector, to the necessary measures for district heating to obtain the rightful place and role it deserves in the Croatian energy sector, and ultimately, the role of the D2Heat project in that process.
The D2Heat project, funded through the EU LIFE program, aims to provide technical assistance to the Croatian district heating sector, accelerating the modernization and implementation of energy transition for heating and cooling sectors. The ultimate goal of the D2Heat project is to mobilize investments of nearly 40 million euros during the project’s duration. These investments will ensure secure, affordable, and clean heating supply for all existing and future users of the district heating system. Modern and efficient centralized heating systems powered by local renewable sources are key to providing secure, clean, and affordable heat energy for the citizens of Croatia.
The technical assistance within the project includes technical analysis and preparation of project documentation, innovative financing models, analysis and proposals for legislative changes, as well as legal services – all aimed at enabling ambitious investments.
During the meeting, the implementation schedule of activities was agreed upon, potential investment projects were identified, and the scope of technical assistance in implementing the investments was determined.
